Welcome to Beersies. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service.

What Beersies does

Beersies helps accepted friends discover when their chosen travel locations and dates create a Beersies Match or Near Miss. A Beersies Match occurs when selected dates overlap and the selected locations are within 50km. A Near Miss occurs when selected locations are within 50km but one trip ends exactly one day before the other begins. These calculations depend on the information users enter and may be approximate. We aim to make real-life catch-ups easier, but we do not organise, supervise, or guarantee any meetup.

Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use Beersies. Keep your account details accurate and use Beersies respectfully. Only add people you know or have a genuine reason to invite. Do not use Beersies to harass, mislead, impersonate, or harm anyone.

Your choices

You control the availability, hometown, profile details, email preferences, and push-notification preferences you provide to Beersies. Push notifications also depend on your device settings. You can edit or delete availability and change optional notification preferences at any time. You can permanently delete your profile in the app.

Respecting others

Only accepted friends can receive Beersies Matches or Near Misses involving your availability. Treat information you see about friends as private and use it only to arrange a genuine catch-up. If you use the device share sheet to send match or Near Miss details, you control the recipient and sharing app and must share those details respectfully.

Invitation links and QR codes

Only share invitation links or QR codes with people you know or have a genuine reason to connect with. A shared invitation link is active for 7 days and a QR code is active for 15 minutes. Each can be used by up to 20 people, so a QR code may be shown to a small group of friends. A recipient can forward or show an invitation to someone else, and anyone who obtains the valid invitation can request to connect with its owner. Review every request before accepting it.

Opening or scanning an invitation never creates a friendship automatically. The recipient must sign in, choose to send a friend request, and the invitation owner must accept it. Do not publish invitations widely, send unsolicited invitations, spam groups, or use invitations to harass or mislead anyone. We may expire, limit, revoke, or otherwise restrict invitations to protect users and the service.

Child safety standards

Beersies has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). You must not use Beersies to create, upload, share, request, promote, or facilitate CSAM or any conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child. Prohibited conduct includes grooming, sextortion, trafficking a child for sexual exploitation, sexualising a minor, or arranging inappropriate sexual contact with a child.

Users can report a connected friend using Report friend, or report an incoming friend request using Report request, in the app. Child-safety concerns can also be sent to hello@beersies.org. If a child may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or law enforcement.

We review reports and take appropriate action, which may include restricting or permanently removing accounts and content. When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM, we will act in accordance with applicable law, including preserving or removing material as legally required and reporting confirmed CSAM to the appropriate authority, such as New Zealand Police, the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, or another relevant regional authority.

Changes or access restrictions

We may update Beersies or these Terms as the app develops. We may suspend or remove an account that misuses the app or puts others at risk.

Law that applies

These Terms are governed by New Zealand law. If you live elsewhere, you may also have mandatory rights under the laws of your country. Nothing in these Terms removes those rights.
